Marin County Parks – San Rafael Avenue Linear Park

Belvedere, CA

The San Rafael Avenue Linear Park located between the San Francisco and Richardson Bays in Belvedere, California is an ASLA Honor Award winning design. This ribbon-like linear waterfront parkway extends a half-mile along Richardson Bay and the Belvedere Lagoon and is set against the spectacular backdrop of Mount Tamalpais, Tiburon Peninsula, and Belvedere Island. MPA’s design incorporates a curvilinear crushed gravel trail, undulating berms, memorial benches, and colorful, drought-resistant native plantings such as California Poppy, Ceanothus, Sea Lavender, and Rock Rose. Separate areas accommodate walkers, joggers and bicyclists and the park joins with the larger Tiburon Bicycle Trail system. The trail and planting areas average eight feet wide and include two wider segments that function as informal plazas at both ends of the park.
